Green Building

The term “Green Building” has many connotations. Depending upon whom one talks to a variety of “definitions” come forth. Green building and sustainable design are often used interchangeably, but it does little to clarify the meaning. To complicate matters more, there are over a dozen organizations in the United States that have set green building criteria. Which one do you follow? Is one “better” than the other? These are just some of the questions we often hear. To complicate matters even more state and local governments have weighed in on the subject and are promoting “green buildings.” And if that isn’t enough, there are various green guides for commercial and residential buildings, as well as for healthcare facilities and schools. Utilities have also jumped into the fray with their own standards.

The potential economic benefits for contractors, manufacturers, homeowners, and building owners are tremendous. By working with our clients we help them to understand the intricacies of green building and how they can best take advantage of the opportunities it presents.
